Reality and the Smart/Hard Work Duality

Very stressed from a long day of almost purely smart work - time spent at the computer typing, organizing, calling customer service, making posts and setting up all sorts of other account information. The goal is to have everything integrated. So each TA member will have their own blog space
For personal thoughts and commentary, which the headline RSS
Feed will update to the main TA we page (which will probably be a Posterous blog until full site is built). I've also been getting my personal digital life in a more organized form so all this personal content can be broadcast to the world more easily.

This has involved updating all my accounts (facebook, twitter,Blogger,
Tumbler, Posterous, flickr, and others) to reflect a coherent name/brand - Bryan Hendrickson. Ego at it's greatest.

The amount of mental stress enticed has been a change from the usual physical stress of working downstairs in the workshop. What I can't get over is the amount of non-doing that was done today. But this has to be "done" in order to legitimize and show others what we have in fact been doing. A paradox.

What is really killing me as well is knowing that there are technologies available that would make performing these online tasks considerably easier. Talk to speech, Emotiv brain controller,
The Sixth Sense and Minority Report
Human-computer interfaces, and wifi- networked 4G smartphones, HD video captureon and on. They need to be integrated into a single device that serves multiple purposes and is fashionable enough to wear. Enough ramblig / NYC tomorrow for New Years :)

More of the same tomorrow.

Something's happening here now

I had some great coversations and discussions with various community leaders here in Trenton over the past several weeks. As the season's change, there is a sense of a shift occurring - you can feel it.

Something incredible is happening in Trenton, NJ right now. A new administration is in office, there are new people with new ideas in the Capital City, and people are slowly beginning to realize that it is us who can make the change. Change doesn't come from the top down, rather from the bottom up.

A band of grass-roots entrepreneurs, inventors, engineers, artists, musicians, and poets are all coming together to solve the problem of how to re-create Trenton

Community Building

Some local youth stopped by the shop to use our bicycle repair resources and spare parts. Here they are seen taking apart some handle bars from an old bike to place on one of their own. Way to be resourceful!

SPX also took the liberty to demonstrate his muraling skills in the back of the shop - with an audience of young Trentonians watching on.

Bryan completed a FireBowl for pete's Etsy store, which has FireBowls, furniture, and other custom wire-rope art pieces for sale. View Pete Abrams' Etsy Shop.

While on a supply run, travelling by bicycle to Blake Hardware, Bryan took this shot of the hardware store by the Martin Luther King Jr. school being torn down. The building had sat vacant for a decade or so, and actually was home to a small forest growing inside the dilapidated building. Who knows what lies in store for this Trenton property?

To round out the evening, a couple came by to pick up an extra fridge we had hangin around. They brought a set of legs to an old metalworking machine for us to take apart as well, which we managed, with the help of some pipe wrenches, to take apart - another successful save! Thanks for stopping by Lindsey and Jim.

Tuesday Morning Blues

Its a rainy Tuesday in Trenton.

Church bells ringing.

Cards sloshing through the slippery streets.

Drip drop drip drop - water pitter pattering through the holes and into buckets.

A morning serenade.
